I went to one of the "best" and certainly costliest schools in Australia, way back in the 70's. It made very little difference to me scholastically, (I had already been a top of state student in the public system) but certainly altered my perceptions of "proper" behaviour. I learned how to be a snob. I have spent all my adult life since then, trying to fit in to regular society, without much success. I still hate football, love polo, hate heavy metal music, love ballet, tie a full Windsor, and can make a pretty decent hollandaise. I wonder if it was worth all the money ?? No, private schools should not be publicly funded at all. Not one cent. Ever. If parents want to "polish" their kids, they have the absolute right to do so, as long as THEY pay for it!!!!

It is important for banks to stay strong and in the current world economy but I am against the reserve bank decision as the independant arbitrator. This decision probably does not effect the real poor because they have no mortgages but it will do nothing to help those families who are really suffering mortgage stess and prevent them from loosing everything and becoming homeless I think in this case they are being greedy

It also amazes me to see that nothing is ever reported about the amount of "backyard" slaughters that happen. I recently was invited to a gathering for a lunch/dinner and was rather horrified to see the head of a goat on the table. The hosts informed me that it is a normal occurance to drive to the farms on the outskirts of Sydney to buy young goats to take home to kill to eat.
One has to wonder how the animal is transported home, how its killed and if this is quite widespread are we stepping on some cultural toes.
