Saving kids in Pakistan
In August 2010 Pakistan was hit by devastating floods. Just weeks ago parts of Pakistan were once again inundated; in some places the flood waters were five meters deep. SOS Pakistan – Feed The Children is a Sydney based NGO that aims to help the flood victims; in particular the children.
So far SOS Pakistan – Feed The Children have sent two containers to Karachi Port full of blankets and tents worth over $200,000, as well as $50,000 worth of water filter bottles. The containers have just been released and the goods have been distributed in the Sindh Province.
SOS Pakistan – Feed The Children have four major projects:
- Education Project - The district of Gujranwala, Punjab. SOS Pakistan-Feed the Children has sponsored 52 children (from 3 different schools) for their education and we will be sponsoring more children in the coming weeks. All the children are either orphaned and/or without a parent.
- Hepatitis C Project - Medication, education and counselling services. One in ten people have Hepatitis C in Pakistan. SOS Pakistan has teamed up with Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad and we are sponsoring one patient at a time for their treatment with a complete follow up.
- Clean Water Project – SOS Pakistan – Feed The Children has distributed the equivalent of $50,000 worth of water filter bottles, each one eradicationg 99.9999% of all viruses and bacteria. Clean water is essential for healthy living. SOS Pakistan is committed to treat others as we wish to be treated ourselves.
- Hospital Project - The district of Gujranwala, Punjab. SOS Pakistan-Feed the Children will purchase one acre of land and build a hospital. We intend the hospital to be for women and children. Our research indicates that this particular district is indeed an area of concern in terms of treatment for the very vulnerable. We have people on the ground and contacts that enable us to ‘trust” the process! This is a major project and will take approximately five years to complete.
Recent events have inspired SOS Pakistan- Feed the Children to work even harder. You can get involved and help by visiting www.sospakistan-feedthechildren.org
